Rangers are looking forward to a brighter future as they await the completion of the club’s takeover by 49ers Enterprises.

It has been a difficult season for the Gers, who trail Celtic by 13 points in the Scottish Premiership. However, since Barry Ferguson stepped in as interim manager, there have been encouraging signs, with the team showing improved form.

A Europa League win over Fenerbahce on Thursday (March 13), followed by victory against Celtic in the Old Firm derby, has made it a memorable week for Ferguson and his squad.

49ers Face Key Decision on Rangers’ Future

Ferguson was brought in until the end of the season to instill a sense of identity and uphold the high standards expected at Ibrox.

Meanwhile, prospective new owners Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe are weighing up their options for a permanent managerial appointment ahead of next season. With increased investment, the expectation is that Rangers will bring in an experienced coach capable of delivering success.

However, with Ferguson losing just one of his five games in charge, some are beginning to question whether the club’s long-term solution might already be in place.

Keith Jackson highlighted this dilemma in the Daily Record, stating: “Once Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe’s legal team finalizes the takeover, the new owners will face a major decision on how to handle this force of nature now leading from the dugout.”

Ferguson Making a Strong Case for the Managerial Role

Given Ferguson’s limited experience at a top level, few expected him to make an immediate impact at Ibrox. His appointment was seen primarily as a move to lift team morale and guide Rangers through the remainder of the season.

However, his early results have been impressive, with victories over strong opponents helping restore the team’s competitive edge.

While it remains to be seen whether Ferguson is the right candidate to oversee the club’s long-term project under the 49ers, his strong start has certainly put him in the conversation.

For now, the prospective owners may hold off on making any immediate decisions, hoping that Ferguson’s performance over the coming months will provide clarity on whether he could be the right man to lead Rangers forward.
