Rangers Star Václav Černý Under Police Investigation for Celtic Park Incident
Rangers winger Václav Černý is at the center of a police investigation following his actions during yesterday’s thrilling 3-2 Scottish Premiership victory over Celtic at Parkhead.
The match was decided by a stunning 88th-minute goal from Hamza Igamane, sparking wild celebrations among Rangers players, staff, and supporters.
Amid the chaos, Černý—who had been substituted—was caught on camera spraying Celtic fans with liquid from a water bottle as he sprinted down the touchline.
Police Scotland Confirms Investigation
Today, Police Scotland confirmed they had received a report regarding the incident and that inquiries were ongoing.
A spokesperson said: “Officers received information and enquiries are ongoing.”
Sky Sports footage showed Černý spraying the liquid while running behind interim manager Barry Ferguson, with some Celtic fans visibly reacting in frustration. Several supporters confronted police officers near the dugout, while Černý—who is on loan from Wolfsburg—was later seen grinning alongside teammates and staff.
Social Media Reacts
The footage quickly went viral, sparking mixed reactions from fans online.
One Rangers supporter admitted: “I’m a Rangers fan – but that is totally wrong.” Another simply predicted: “Ban incoming.”
A Celtic fan mocked Černý, writing: “He got carried away with those 3 precious consolation points. Imagine he actually won a trophy?”
However, many Rangers fans embraced the controversy, with one urging: “Sign him now!” Another added: “He’ll get in bother for it, but that is so, so funny.”
For now, Černý remains under police investigation, and it remains to be seen if further action will be taken.
