Celtic-bound Kieran Tierney and Hoops right-back Anthony Ralston played key roles in Scotland’s vital 1-0 victory over Greece in Athens in the first leg of their Nations League Group A play-off. The win leaves Scotland in a strong position heading into Sunday’s return leg at Hampden Park.

Ralston Solid at Right-Back

Ralston started at right-back and delivered a composed performance, contributing to Scotland’s clean sheet. The Celtic defender showcased his trademark energy and defensive discipline, effectively neutralizing Greece’s attacking threats. He was substituted in the 89th minute, making way for Ryan Porteous after another assured showing on the international stage.

Tierney Adds Attacking Threat

Currently at Arsenal, Tierney had a different task on the night. Introduced in the 76th minute to replace Kenny McLean, Tierney was deployed as a left winger, where his pace and attacking intent provided an added spark as Scotland saw out the win.

Tierney’s Imminent Return to Celtic

Tierney is set to rejoin Celtic this summer after signing a four-year pre-contract agreement with the Hoops. His return to Glasgow has been eagerly awaited by fans, with the defender determined to reignite his career following his spell in the Premier League.

Focus Shifts to Hampden Return

With a 1-0 advantage, Scotland now turn their attention to the decisive second leg at Hampden Park, where both Tierney and Ralston are expected to play influential roles once again. Steve Clarke’s side will aim to capitalize on their advantage and secure a place in the top tier of the Nations League in front of a passionate home crowd.

Celtic supporters will be keeping a close watch on both players, as Ralston continues to impress for Scotland and Tierney gears up for his highly anticipated return to Parkhead.
