Former Hibernian manager Neil Lennon, who has been out of management since a brief stint with Rapid Bucharest last year, is on the verge of taking over at Dunfermline following positive discussions.

The Pars have reportedly made Lennon, a former Celtic player and manager, their top target after parting ways with Michael Tidser. New owners James Bord and Evan Sofer are now optimistic about securing the Northern Irishman’s services, with the Daily Mail reporting that a “bumper offer” has been made.

Tidser’s tenure lasted just 11 games and ended after a derby defeat to Raith Rovers. With the team struggling near the bottom of the Scottish Championship, Dunfermline are keen to bring in an experienced figure to guide them to safety.

Lennon Set to Face Scott Brown in Dugout Return

With a deal expected to be finalized soon — especially with no fixture for the Pars this weekend — Lennon’s first game in charge is likely to be against Ayr United, managed by former Hibs and Celtic star Scott Brown. Ayr hosts Dunfermline at Somerset Park on Saturday, March 29, as they aim to maintain pressure on league leaders Falkirk.

Lennon, 53, previously had two spells in charge at Celtic, along with managerial stints at Bolton and Cypriot side Omonia. He also managed Brown during his time as Celtic captain.

Dunfermline currently sit second-bottom in the Championship, just one point behind eighth-placed Hamilton Accies. However, bottom club Airdrie are closing in, sitting only six points behind and with a chance to cut that gap to three after their match against Falkirk this Saturday.
