Celtic are expected to be active in the upcoming summer transfer window, with sources telling Football Insider that the club is preparing for a busy period.

Speaking on the latest Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Celtic “will be busy” as Brendan Rodgers looks to strengthen his squad ahead of next season.

Despite enjoying a dominant Scottish Premiership campaign — currently sitting 12 points ahead of Rangers despite a recent 3-2 defeat to their Old Firm rivals — Rodgers has made it clear that he wants Celtic to compete more effectively in the latter stages of the Champions League. To achieve that, he believes a stronger squad is essential.

One major boost is the imminent return of Kieran Tierney, who is set to rejoin his boyhood club this summer. Celtic are prepared to make Tierney the highest-paid player in the squad, signaling the owners’ commitment to supporting Rodgers.

Fans have also called on the club to back Rodgers financially this summer to avoid any potential frustration from the manager due to a lack of support in improving the squad.

Celtic seeking midfield depth to support McGregor

Callum McGregor has been a key figure in Rodgers’ side this season, but with the midfielder entering the latter stages of his career, Celtic are keen to find a long-term successor.

The team’s midfield struggles in the recent Old Firm derby highlighted the need for additional depth, prompting Rodgers to look for someone who can provide competition and cover for McGregor.

Football Insider has reported that Kalidou Sidibe, who has impressed for Guingamp in Ligue 2 this season, is one of the players Celtic are considering to fill that role.

Celtic aim to replace Kyogo with a marquee striker

Another priority for Celtic is replacing Kyogo Furuhashi, who was sold to Rennes for £10 million during the January transfer window. The club did not secure a replacement at the time but now plans to sign a high-profile striker to give Rodgers more attacking options.

Additionally, the funds from Furuhashi’s sale remain untouched, providing Rodgers with financial flexibility to strengthen the squad further this summer.
