Adam Idah Returns to Celtic with Confidence After International Success
Adam Idah will rejoin Celtic this week with renewed confidence after playing a crucial role in the Republic of Ireland’s UEFA Nations League triumph over Bulgaria.
The striker came off the bench on Sunday to score a late winner, securing a 4-2 aggregate victory for Ireland and ensuring their place in Nations League B. Now, attention shifts back to club football, where Celtic are on the hunt for a historic Treble.
If the Hoops achieve this feat, it would mark a remarkable first full season for Idah following his high-profile summer transfer. His successful loan spell, highlighted by his winning goal in the Scottish Cup final against Rangers, made his permanent signing a no-brainer for Celtic’s hierarchy.
However, despite settling in well at Parkhead, the 24-year-old has already faced speculation about his long-term future after his latest heroics for Ireland.
Adam Idah Dismisses Talk of Leaving Celtic
While Celtic are a massive club with a rich European history, the Scottish Premiership doesn’t command the same financial power or global attention as the top five leagues.
Following his performance for Ireland, Idah was asked whether he would consider a move to one of Europe’s elite divisions. His response, as reported by Go Radio, will have delighted Celtic supporters.
Presenter Paul Cooney explained: “After scoring in Ireland’s 2-1 win, Adam Idah was asked about speculation surrounding his future and the fact that he isn’t always a regular starter at Celtic.”
“He didn’t entertain the idea. When asked if he wanted to move to a top-five league in the summer, he responded, ‘I don’t think about whether I can or can’t play for another team. I just fight for the team I’m with, and that’s Celtic. That’s all I want to do. I think it would be good if I can do that’.”
Idah’s Contributions in a Competitive Celtic Attack
Idah’s game time has been somewhat limited this season, initially playing second fiddle to Kyogo Furuhashi. Then, after Kyogo’s departure in January, Daizen Maeda emerged as Celtic’s main attacking force, transitioning from the wing to a central striker role with devastating effect.
The Japanese international has been in red-hot form, netting 28 goals across all competitions, which has naturally reduced Idah’s minutes on the pitch.
However, that doesn’t mean Idah hasn’t played a key role in Celtic’s campaign. Despite the competition for places, the Irish forward has made valuable contributions, ensuring that his first full season in Glasgow has been a successful one.
