Norwich City have experienced an up-and-down season under Johannes Hoff Thorup’s leadership.

The Danish manager took charge in the summer, replacing David Wagner, who had led the team to a play-off spot.

Throughout the campaign, the Canaries have remained in the race for a top-six finish, but their chances of securing a play-off place now appear slim.

With only a few months left in the season, Norwich will likely shift their focus to the summer transfer window.

Norwich City’s Potential Summer Transfers

When asked for two transfer predictions for Norwich, FLW’s fan pundit Zeke Downes suggested that Borja Sainz is likely to be sold.

Additionally, he expects the club to secure a permanent deal for Jacob Wright after his loan spell from Manchester City.

“One thing I think will happen in the summer window is that we’ll sell Sainz,” Downes told Football League World.

“It’s not really a bold prediction since it seems quite likely either way. We’ll need the funds to strengthen the squad, although the Attanasios have said we don’t have to sell. It will be interesting to see if we can negotiate a higher fee.”

“The second move I expect is signing Jacob Wright permanently. We have the option to buy, and there’s a clear reason we brought him in with that clause. He’s already playing a lot of minutes, and with Sorensen leaving and McLean aging, I think Wright is the player they want in that No.6 role.”

“I see it as smart long-term planning, and I believe we’ll finalize the transfer.”

Currently, Norwich sit 13th in the Championship table, eight points behind the play-off spots with eight matches remaining.

Retaining Sainz Would Be a Huge Boost for Norwich

If Norwich don’t face financial pressure to sell, their chances of keeping Sainz—however slim—would improve.

Interest in the Spaniard is expected to be high, and he may look to advance his career if the right opportunity arises. However, if the club can retain him for another season, it would be a major boost given his impressive performances.

Meanwhile, Wright has been a reliable addition during his loan spell, and securing a permanent move for the 19-year-old would represent smart business.
