Energy Fiji Limited expects power to be fully restored across Viti Levu within the next 2 to 3 hours.
The island has been experiencing heavy rain, thunderstorms, and frequent lightning, particularly in the interior and highland regions, over the past few days.
Due to this severe weather, a major power outage occurred at 2:08 PM today. The continuous lightning strikes affected the 132,000-volt transmission line, disrupting electricity supply from the Wailoa Power Station and causing widespread outages.
EFL teams are working systematically to restore power safely while addressing the fault to ensure a full recovery.
So far, 80 percent of the power supply has been restored in the Central Division, while 20 percent is back online in the Western Division.
