Leeds United are reportedly among the clubs monitoring Jonathan Rowe’s situation as Marseille weigh up a potential sale, according to Jeunes Footeux.

Despite their ongoing battle for promotion from the Championship, speculation is growing around summer transfer activity at Elland Road. While new signings are being linked to Leeds, there is also talk of possible departures. The club’s plans will ultimately depend on whether they secure promotion or remain in the Championship, with decisions set to be finalized once their fate is sealed on the pitch.

Now, Rowe’s name has resurfaced as a potential target.

Reports from France suggest that Leeds are keeping a close eye on the winger’s future at Marseille. Rowe is currently on loan from Norwich City, a Championship rival, with an obligation to buy included in the deal. However, he has fallen out of favour under Roberto De Zerbi, and Jeunes Footeux claims that Marseille may need to offload players this summer, which could see Rowe made available.

Leeds had been linked with Rowe last summer when his future at Norwich was uncertain, but he opted for a move to Ligue 1 instead. Everton are also reportedly interested in the 21-year-old.

Rowe’s Move to Marseille

After impressing at Norwich, Rowe secured a step up in his career. A switch to Leeds would have kept him in the Championship, so it wasn’t surprising that he chose to test himself in France.

He initially made a strong impact at Marseille, scoring two goals and providing two assists in his first six games, despite only starting once. However, his playing time has since diminished, and he hasn’t been in the starting lineup since November 8th. Given his lack of game time, another move this summer appears likely.

Leeds’ Wing Options

Leeds are expected to strengthen their squad in the summer, and adding another left-winger could be a priority. While Rowe can also play as an attacking midfielder, he is most effective in a wide role.

He could serve as an alternative to loaned-in winger Manor Solomon, who is expected to be a target if Leeds secure promotion. However, if they remain in the Championship, Solomon might be unattainable, making Rowe a more viable option.

The Whites already have Wilfried Gnonto, Largir Ramazani, and Dan James in their ranks, but if they fail to return to the Premier League, departures could follow—necessitating reinforcements, with Rowe potentially among the candidates.
