Rangers may need to shell out at least £5 million this summer to secure Maccabi Tel Aviv striker Dor Turgeman, who is under contract until 2026 and attracting interest from clubs across Europe.

According to reports from Israel, Ibrox scouts were present to watch the Israeli forward score his first goal for his country and are said to be interested in bringing him to Glasgow. However, they face competition from English Championship side Burnley.

With the anticipated takeover by the Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises consortium, Rangers could have funds available to strengthen the squad in the summer. Turgeman, 21, has netted 17 goals in 35 appearances this season as Maccabi Tel Aviv pushes for back-to-back Israeli Premier League titles. Sport 5 claims the Israeli club is seeking around £5 million for the striker, as they are not optimistic about him signing a contract extension beyond 2026.

Turgeman isn’t the only player who could require a significant outlay from the new owners. Rangers also face a decision on Wolfsburg loanee Vaclav Cerny, whose £5.5 million purchase option is nearing its expiration. Cerny has been impressive, scoring 17 goals in 44 matches, and we previously reported that the final decision on his future rests with the incoming consortium.

Former Celtic star Andy Walker believes any high-profile signings depend on whether the takeover materializes. Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, he said: “I think everything depends on where Rangers are going with this potential takeover. There’s talk of a lot of money being invested if it goes through. If it doesn’t, I can’t see them coming up with £5.5m for Cerny.”

Cerny remains a doubt for Rangers’ next match against Hibs after missing the dramatic win over Dundee due to a hamstring injury sustained during international duty with the Czech Republic. Interim manager Barry Ferguson explained: “He’s come back with a hamstring issue. I decided it wasn’t worth the risk because he’s obviously a big player for us.”
