Norwich City’s Borja Sainz has been encouraged to “aim higher” than Sheffield United, who have recently been linked with a move for the in-form winger amid his impressive Championship season.

On Sunday, The Sun’s Alan Nixon reported via his exclusive Patreon service that Sheffield United are eyeing Sainz as a summer transfer target. The Blades, currently leading the Championship, are keen to sign the Spaniard regardless of their promotion outcome.

Reports suggest the South Yorkshire club are prepared to offer more than £10 million for Sainz but have yet to make a formal bid. With strong interest expected in the coming months, Sainz has also been previously linked with clubs like Atlético Madrid, Villarreal, Athletic Club, and Galatasaray.

Given his standout performances, it’s no surprise that Sainz is attracting attention. While Norwich are unlikely to finish in the top six, the 24-year-old has shone at Carrow Road, leading the Championship scoring charts with 17 goals. His contract is set to expire next summer, further increasing speculation about a potential move.

Norwich City fan pundit Zeke Downes weighed in on the situation, suggesting Sainz should seek a higher-profile move rather than joining Sheffield United. Comparing the situation to Gabriel Sara’s departure to Galatasaray, Downes dismissed the likelihood of a switch to Bramall Lane, arguing that Sainz is more likely to return to Spain—even to a mid-table club—rather than fight a relegation battle.

With Norwich unlikely to secure promotion and Sainz entering the final year of his contract, the club may have little choice but to cash in this summer. His desire to play top-flight football, coupled with his high market value, makes an exit increasingly probable.
