Isaah Yeo is set to make history on Friday night as the first player to reach 250 games for the Penrith Panthers, cementing his legacy in the club’s record books.

Debuting in the NRL in 2014, Yeo has remained loyal to Penrith for over a decade, adapting through positional changes to become one of the club’s all-time greats.

“It’s not just about reaching 250 games—he has played a lot of quality football for them,” rugby league legend Gorden Tallis said on NRL 360.

The 30-year-old, a four-time premiership-winning co-captain, has earned three Merv Cartwright Medals and five Dally M awards, yet his journey to this milestone has been one of transformation.

Originally from Dubbo, Yeo began his career as a centre and even had a brief stint on the wing in 2014 before becoming a regular second-rower under Anthony Griffin in 2016. After five seasons and 100 games in that role, he transitioned to lock in 2019 under Ivan Cleary, a move that proved pivotal for both Yeo and the Panthers.

Since 2020, he has been a mainstay at No.13, playing a crucial role in Penrith’s historic run of premierships. His versatility and ball-handling skills have evolved to the point where he operates almost as a third playmaker.

According to Fox Sports Lab, Yeo’s touches per game have surged from 11.9 in his rookie season to 38 this year, highlighting his increasing influence in attack. While his run metres have dipped to 91 per game from a career-high of 125 last season, his playmaking responsibilities have grown, particularly following the departure of Jarome Luai and an early-season injury to Nathan Cleary.

While Cleary and Luai have their own impressive legacies, Yeo’s 250-game milestone and leadership position him as the heart of Penrith’s ongoing success.

“He plays like a back-up halfback,” veteran rugby league journalist David Riccio said on NRL 360. “When things go wrong or Nathan has to leave the field, in comes Isaah. He has this brilliant ball-playing ability.”

Yeo now stands among Penrith’s greatest-ever players, prompting the question: is he the best Panther of all time?

“The highest praise for Isaah
