Rangers-Ibrox-4-750x421

Rangers could see several players departing Ibrox during the summer transfer window. However, decisions on potential exits are likely to become clearer once a new manager is appointed. Further clarity is also expected after the San Francisco 49ers finalize their takeover and assume majority ownership.

Coventry City and Besiktas Among Clubs Interested in Tom Lawrence

According to the Mail, Coventry City—led by Frank Lampard—and Besiktas, managed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, are among the clubs keen on signing Tom Lawrence. Additionally, West Brom, Burnley, Middlesbrough, Blackburn Rovers, Olympiacos, and PAOK have all expressed interest in the Wales international.

With Lawrence’s contract at Ibrox set to expire at the end of the season, there has been no indication that he will extend his stay. The 31-year-old has struggled with fitness issues and has made only a limited number of appearances this season.

Rangers’ Costly Mistake in Handling Lawrence’s Contract

Rangers appear to have made a major misstep by allowing Lawrence’s contract to run down, as they are now unlikely to receive any transfer fee for him. While he has demonstrated moments of quality—most notably netting the decisive penalty in Rangers’ Europa League victory over Fenerbahce—his form has been inconsistent in recent months.

His recent return to fitness and recall to the Wales national team have rekindled interest from potential suitors. However, with no signs of a contract renewal and the appeal of a fresh start elsewhere, Rangers seem set to lose him on a free transfer.

This represents a significant financial oversight for the club, as they could have sold him for a modest fee—potentially in the £2-3 million range—rather than letting a valuable asset leave without compensation.
