Rangers could escalate their rivalry with Celtic by potentially targeting Kyogo Furuhashi from Stade Rennais.

The Gers recently triumphed over Brendan Rodgers’ side in the Old Firm derby, securing back-to-back wins and reinforcing their dominance in Glasgow.

Under Barry Ferguson’s leadership, Ibrox has been revitalized, and the squad’s confidence is soaring, as seen in their comeback victory over Dundee on March 29.

However, strengthening the squad next summer will be crucial for Rangers to compete with Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, and they might consider pursuing one of Rodgers’ former key players.

Kyogo transfer backed for Rangers next summer

Scott McDermott has suggested that Kyogo would be an outstanding addition to the Gers in the upcoming transfer window.

The Scottish journalist believes the 30-year-old forward, who moved from Celtic to Stade Rennais in January, would bring significant value to Rangers.

When a fan proposed the idea of signing the Japanese international, McDermott appeared to agree, albeit playfully.

Speaking on Hotline Live (April 2), he remarked: “Kyogo would be brilliant for Rangers. He’d add pace and pressing, something they currently lack. I think he’d be a fantastic signing. Get him in.”

Ibrox takeover could spark major summer transfer window

Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises are in active discussions to finalize their acquisition of Rangers in the coming months.

The club has been at the center of speculation lately, with significant changes potentially on the horizon.

One of the first decisions for the prospective new owners will likely be Ferguson’s future at Ibrox once they take control.

Rangers fans will also expect Cavenagh and the 49ers to invest heavily in the squad next summer, as an overhaul could be necessary.

Key players like Vaclav Cerny and Ianis Hagi face uncertain futures at Ibrox, which may prompt the need for attacking reinforcements.

Nedim Bajrami has struggled to make an impact since joining last summer, and the club might decide to part ways with him.

Meanwhile, Hamza Igamane has been a revelation for Rangers this season, drawing interest from several top European clubs.

That said, Furuhashi’s Celtic connections could make any potential transfer complicated, and Rangers may ultimately decide against pursuing him.
