Celtic have reportedly rekindled their pursuit of Michel-Ange Balikwisha.
The Royal Antwerp winger has been linked with a move to Parkhead in the past two transfer windows but has struggled with injuries, limiting him to just 273 minutes of first-team football this season, according to Soccerway.
Celtic have frequently targeted wingers in recent transfer windows. When Brendan Rodgers returned in June 2023, the club sold Jota, while Marco Tilio, Yang Hyun-jun, and Luis Palma have yet to fill the void left by the Portuguese winger. Nicolas Kuhn, who arrived last January, has impressed this season, while Jota has returned and Daizen Maeda has transitioned into a striker role.
Celtic appear keen to strengthen their wide options, with The Sun reporting renewed interest in the 23-year-old Antwerp winger.
According to SunSport, Celtic scouts monitored Balikwisha during Royal Antwerp’s 5-1 defeat to Union Saint-Gilloise. The Belgian U21 international has been a long-standing target for Rodgers, but an injury setback thwarted a potential January move. After overcoming a torn thigh muscle, Balikwisha is now back to full fitness and even provided an assist in Antwerp’s recent match.
With just a year remaining on his contract, Antwerp are reportedly prepared to sell him this summer.
Celtic’s summer transfer business is expected to be influenced by potential player sales, with 10 Champions League matches providing a platform for stars like Kuhn and Maeda to attract interest.
