Stevie Clifford voices frustration as Rangers slump to Hibs defeat
Stevie Clifford of Four Lads Had a Dream shared his frustration following Rangers’ dismal 2-0 loss to Hibernian at Ibrox.
Despite playing at home, the Gers failed to impose themselves, managing just three shots on target over the 90 minutes — a performance emblematic of their broader struggles.
Clifford slams squad quality and outgoing board
Clifford didn’t hold back, criticising the squad for lacking the quality required to mount a serious title challenge. He also pointed fingers at the club’s board, blaming them for overseeing the ongoing decline without meaningful intervention.
With a takeover expected to be finalised soon, Clifford made it clear that change is urgently needed. He wrote on X:
“Just a nightmare from start to finish. Miles off being good enough & another nail in a squad who are so far away from it in terms of quality.
Five defeats in a row at home, the legacy of an outgoing boardroom who have sat & watched it all happen. Change can’t come soon enough.”
49ers face massive rebuild after Rangers takeover
The incoming ownership group, led by the San Francisco 49ers, will face an enormous challenge once their takeover is complete.
This season’s disappointing displays have highlighted the gulf in quality within the squad, described by Clifford as “miles off being good enough.” Rangers’ fifth straight home defeat only deepens concerns about the team’s direction.
The 49ers will inherit a club in turmoil, with critical decisions looming — from appointing a new permanent manager to reshaping the squad and transfer strategy.
While the takeover is expected to unlock new funds, the American investors must go beyond financial injections. Rebuilding Rangers’ footballing identity, re-establishing Ibrox as a fortress, and winning back disillusioned supporters will be crucial.
Drawing from their experience with Leeds United and leveraging their celebrity connections to grow the Rangers brand could help — but the scale of the challenge is significant, both on and off the pitch.
