Hibs’ defender Jack Iredale has praised his teammate Martin Boyle’s cool reaction after scoring the winning goal against Rangers.
There was a tense moment as VAR checked whether Boyle was onside, but according to Iredale, Boyle was completely unaware of the situation. Hibs secured a 2-0 win at Ibrox, maintaining their unbeaten run in 2025. Dylan Levitt gave them the lead, and after the break, Boyle’s goal kept them in third place.
Iredale explained, “The bench seemed pretty confident about it. I was just focused on making sure they didn’t catch us on the counter. I asked Boyley, and in true Boyley fashion, he had no idea. When the whistle went, it was a great feeling. We’ve got players who can cause chaos all over the pitch, and Boyley is one of the best in the league, especially when he’s in that kind of form. It boosts everyone’s confidence when you’ve got someone who can create something out of nothing.”
Reflecting on the match, Iredale added, “We’ve been building on our momentum from the past 15 or 16 league games. Everyone played brilliantly. We started well, were confident on the ball, and got the reward. But we know it’s going to be tough from here on out. One game at a time. Saturday’s result was huge, but now our focus shifts to Dundee next Sunday, which will be a completely different challenge.”
Iredale also highlighted Hibs’ strong league performances, saying, “We’ve now had positive results against everyone around us in the league. The only team we haven’t beaten yet is St Mirren. Going into every game now, we know we have the potential to win.”
Discussing his defensive partnership with Rocky Bushiri, Iredale said, “I have a great relationship with Rocky. Just like Boyle gives me confidence up front, I feel very confident playing alongside Rocky. He can bail us out with his physicality, power, and presence. He was immense again, just like always. Rocky and I enjoy getting stuck in. Credit to Dessers, he tried to fight back, but we came out on top.”
