Rangers Suffer Another Setback at Ibrox as Season Winds Down

Rangers endured yet another frustrating defeat at Ibrox, adding to what has been a dismal domestic season as it approaches its final stages.

Despite being comfortably ahead of Hibernian in the standings, The Gers were beaten on home turf by the third-placed Edinburgh side. While the result had little bearing on the overall table, it raised fresh concerns for the club. Rangers remain 15 points clear of Hibs, but still trail Celtic by 13 points, with their rivals holding a game in hand. This latest Scottish Premiership defeat only deepened the gloom at Ibrox.

Dylan Levitt opened the scoring before Martin Boyle doubled the lead, sealing a well-deserved victory for Hibernian. Boyle’s goal, a product of a pinpoint low pass that split the Rangers defence, left him one-on-one with Jack Butland—he made no mistake.

VAR confirmed the goal, and Boyle celebrated emphatically in front of a stunned home crowd. The Australian winger later posted a photo on Instagram cupping his ears to the Rangers faithful, accompanied by a single kiss emoji—a subtle dig that likely irked the home support.

Boyle’s Ongoing Feud with Rangers

Boyle has now faced Rangers 25 times throughout his career, including during his early days with Montrose in League Two and more frequently with Hibs. He’s scored seven goals in those encounters, including a brace in a thrilling 3-3 draw earlier this season.

Although he’s only recorded four victories over Rangers in those 25 meetings, his standout moment came in November 2021 when he netted a hattrick in a 3-1 League Cup triumph. His latest strike serves as yet another painful chapter for Barry Ferguson’s side in what has become a forgettable campaign.
