Leicester City are preparing for a return to the Championship, and Russell Martin has emerged as a strong contender to take over as manager.

Ruud van Nistelrooyā€™s future at the club is uncertain, with Leicester reportedly eyeing Martin as a possible successor to the Dutchman, who has struggled to make an impact since his arrival at the King Power Stadium in November.

With another Championship campaign looming, appointing a new manager swiftly could be key to mounting a title challenge and securing an immediate return to the Premier League under Martin’s leadership.

If Martin is handed the reins in the East Midlands, here are three players he might look to bring in for the upcoming season:

Adam Armstrong

Leicester must show ambition in the summer transfer window, and few names would be more fitting than Adam Armstrong ā€” a key figure in Southamptonā€™s promotion campaign under Martin.

Currently on loan at West Bromwich Albion, Armstrong famously scored the decisive goal in the play-off final against Leeds United. With Southampton expected to cash in and Leicester needing attacking reinforcements, the 28-year-old could be the ideal striker for Martin to build around.

Ryan Manning

Russell Martin has shown loyalty to players he’s worked with before, and Ryan Manning is a prime example. The Irish left-back has played under Martin at both Swansea and Southampton, making over 100 appearances in total.

Given Leicesterā€™s current issues at left-back, Manning could be a smart addition if Martin takes over, offering reliability and familiarity with the managerā€™s system.

Olivier Ntcham

A significant squad rebuild is expected at Leicester this summer, and versatile midfielder Olivier Ntcham could be a valuable asset. Now playing for Turkish side Samsunspor ā€” currently third in the Super Lig ā€” Ntcham has experience and quality that could bolster Leicesterā€™s midfield.

Though persuading him to leave European competition for the Championship might be tough, a reunion with Martin and the allure of English football could be enough to tempt the former Swansea man back.
