Things have taken a significant turn at the Brisbane Broncos, with veteran halfback Adam Reynolds potentially on the move again as he faces an uncertain future at the club.

Initially expected to retire at the end of the 2025 season and step into a coaching role, Reynolds is now reportedly reconsidering after a strong start to the year. However, the Broncos are under salary cap pressure and had planned for Reynolds’ $550,000 salary to come off the books in 2026 to retain key stars like Kotoni Staggs and Selwyn Cobbo.

With big-money contracts already handed to the likes of Reece Walsh, Payne Haas, Patrick Carrigan, and Ezra Mam, the club may not be able to afford to keep Reynolds if he chooses to play on. As a result, he may need to find a new team to extend his NRL career.

Hull Kingston Rovers have emerged as a potential destination, though relocating to England would mean uprooting his young family from Brisbane — a city they’ve grown to love since their move from Sydney in 2022. In February, Reynolds told the Courier Mail that moving to Brisbane provided the lifestyle he and his wife Tallara wanted for their four children, and they now consider it home.

Speaking on Triple M, Reynolds confirmed he’s eager to keep playing, saying, “The plan is to play on. I will keep all options open… Ideally I would love to stay at the Broncos but it is pretty tight there at the moment.”

The Broncos have already begun planning for life after Reynolds by securing Ben Hunt on a two-year deal. If Reynolds departs, Hunt would likely partner Mam in the halves from 2026. Notably, Hunt appears to be settling into Brisbane life as well, listing his Sydney home for $2.2 million — a move that suggests he’s committed to staying in Queensland long-term.
