Lee Hendrie believes Norwich City could demand a transfer fee in the region of £25-30 million for Borja Sainz during the upcoming summer window.

Sainz has been a standout performer for the Canaries this season, leading their scoring charts with 17 Championship goals as the campaign nears its conclusion. The 24-year-old Spaniard is under contract at Carrow Road until the summer of 2026, but speculation around his future is beginning to grow.

Journalist Alan Nixon recently reported that Sheffield United are among the clubs eyeing Sainz, and are prepared to offer over £10 million to secure his services.

Hendrie weighs in on potential Sainz transfer fee
In an exclusive interview with Football League World, Sky Sports pundit and ex-midfielder Lee Hendrie was asked what the minimum acceptable fee should be for Sainz if bids arrive this summer.

“Sainz has had a fantastic season at Norwich,” Hendrie said. “Even with a suspension keeping him out for a few matches, he’s still the top scorer in the league (as of April 12), which says a lot. Championship clubs are always looking for the standout talent, and you often see significant fees paid for that.”

“I think Norwich would be aiming for something between £25 and £30 million if he were to leave. It’s about making a smart decision for both the player and the club — and that sort of fee would reflect both his impact and potential.”

Sainz’s value reflects his importance to Norwich
Since arriving at Norwich in the summer of 2023, Sainz has become a vital figure in Johannes Hoff Thorup’s system, playing a key role in the club’s push for the play-offs. While losing him would be a blow, a deal in the £25-30 million range would represent excellent business — especially considering he will be entering the final year of his contract.

Such a fee could significantly boost Norwich’s summer transfer budget and allow them to reinvest in the squad with an eye toward a stronger promotion challenge next season.

Despite the bittersweet nature of a potential sale, Norwich may ultimately benefit if the funds are used wisely to improve depth and quality across the board — making the Sainz saga one to watch closely in what is shaping up to be a defining summer at Carrow Road.
