Rangers Left-Backs Facing Uncertain Future Amid Summer Overhaul

Rangers’ left-back duo, Jefte and Ridvan Yilmaz, could be under threat this summer as changes loom at Ibrox.

With US investment poised to flood into the club, pundit Roger Hannah has predicted an unprecedented transformation at Rangers. One area expected to be addressed is the underperforming defence, particularly the left-back position, which many supporters feel needs strengthening.

Jefte has been linked with a potential move to Chelsea, while Ridvan Yilmaz is reportedly attracting interest from Turkey. Both may depart before the new season even begins.

Meanwhile, former Premier League defender Brandon Williams, who has been on Rangers’ radar, has opened up about his current struggles after leaving Manchester United.

Brandon Williams Eager for Return Amid Rangers Links

Rangers expressed interest in Brandon Williams last summer, with the 24-year-old left-back weighing his next move after being released by Manchester United. He had been expected to join Ipswich Town, but off-field issues derailed the opportunity.

Speaking candidly on Ben Foster’s Fozcast podcast, Williams admitted it’s painful to watch football from the sidelines and shared how much he misses the camaraderie of being in a team.

“I go into a mode where I just stop caring,” he said. “My family and friends wanted me to get back into football, but they saw I’d lost the love for it. It hurts watching football now — I just want to be out there playing.”

Despite receiving multiple offers from clubs in the US, Europe, and England, Williams hasn’t found the right fit yet but remains open to new experiences. A move to Rangers could appeal to him as he looks to reignite his career.

“I want to feel that buzz again — the winning mentality, the dressing room, travelling with the team,” he added. “I’m only 24, so I’d love to spend a few years abroad. Definitely in Europe, at a good or up-and-coming club.”

Rangers Have Better Options Than Celtic’s Greg Taylor

Williams’ comments come amid speculation linking Rangers with Celtic’s Greg Taylor, whose contract is nearing its end. Despite his Rangers-supporting background, Taylor recently wrapped his newborn in Celtic gear, sparking further debate among fans.

Former players like Kris Boyd and Craig Moore have suggested Taylor as a possible Rangers target, though Ally McCoist has dismissed the idea as “madness.”

While Williams may come with baggage, many Rangers supporters would view the former Manchester United man as a far more promising option than turning to a Celtic player.
