Rangers Edge Closer to Takeover as Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises Push for Final Deal

Rangers appear to be nearing a major turning point as Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises continue working towards finalizing their takeover of the club.

The American consortium has been engaged in talks for a while with the goal of securing majority ownership of the Ibrox outfit. However, delays have reportedly caused some frustration within the club’s boardroom, with concerns over how long the process is taking to conclude.

Cavenagh, chairman of ParetoHealth, was seen in the stands during Rangers’ 2-2 Europa League quarter-final draw with Athletic Bilbao—an appearance that may have had more purpose than just spectating. According to Daily Record journalist Keith Jackson, Cavenagh’s presence could signal progress in finalizing the takeover.

Jackson stated on Hotline Live (13 April): “Cavenagh didn’t come all this way just to watch a European match. It seems like he’s here to bring the deal to a close. All signs point to the takeover entering its final phase.”

Ibrox Ownership Change Urgent as Key Decisions Loom

With the club at a crossroads, the completion of the takeover is more pressing than ever. Interim boss Barry Ferguson’s future remains unclear. Appointed after Philippe Clement’s dismissal, the Rangers legend has seen mixed results—pulling off wins against high-profile managers like Jose Mourinho and Brendan Rodgers but faltering against smaller domestic sides.

Meanwhile, the club’s playing squad features rising stars who may soon be on Premier League radars. Hamza Igamane has drawn interest from Newcastle and Tottenham following a strong breakout season, while Belgian midfielder Nico Raskin continues to grow in stature, making him another likely target for English clubs.

The new ownership group will face several crucial decisions, both on the managerial front and regarding player retention. With the summer window approaching and key planning needed, bringing the takeover to a close is becoming increasingly urgent for the future of Rangers.
