Celtic and Rangers Enter Chase for Crystal Palace Starlet Jesse Derry

Celtic and Rangers have both joined the growing list of clubs vying for the signature of Crystal Palace’s highly-rated youngster Jesse Derry, sources have told Football Insider.

The 17-year-old winger, who has represented England at youth level, is attracting major interest across Europe after reportedly rejecting a professional contract offer from Palace. With his future at Selhurst Park in doubt, Derry looks set to depart this summer for a compensation fee—sparking a transfer race that now includes the two Old Firm giants.

Derry, who progressed through Palace’s academy, recently scored the winner for England’s Under-18s against Portugal and is said to be open to a move abroad.

Back in February, Football Insider revealed that European powerhouses such as Bayern Munich, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, and Atletico Madrid had all scouted Derry. The transfer battle has only intensified since then.

Rising Talent Catching Wider Attention

Premier League clubs are also monitoring Derry closely, believing he could be a future star after developing alongside the likes of Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly in England’s youth setups.

Derry has been prolific at Under-18 level, netting 20 goals in 27 appearances across competitions. He has also stepped up to Palace’s Under-21s, scoring against RB Leipzig in the Premier League International Cup earlier this year.

Having already played for England at Under-17, Under-18, and Under-19 levels, Derry’s international pedigree only strengthens his appeal.

Glasner Set for Palace Contract Talks

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner remains content at Selhurst Park, despite links to a potential move to RB Leipzig. As Football Insider reported on April 10, the Austrian is expected to enter talks over a new deal, with his current contract running through to June 2026.

Glasner is said to be pleased with the progress the team has made under his leadership since the start of the 2024–25 season.
