Rangers Eye Major Summer Overhaul Amid Takeover Push

Rangers are already preparing for a pivotal summer at Ibrox, with sweeping changes potentially on the horizon. Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises are pushing to finalise their takeover of the club swiftly, with ambitious plans taking shape for a new era in Glasgow.

Barry Ferguson is currently serving as interim manager, but that situation may shift quickly, with key decisions looming both on and off the pitch.

Big Shake-Up on the Cards

Football finance expert Dan Plumley has suggested that another significant squad overhaul could be on the way. After a season that failed to meet expectations, Plumley believes the club may be poised for considerable transfer activity as the new regime seeks to reshape the squad.

Speaking to Ibrox News, he said:
“I think potentially, yes… You have to be careful not to stir up fans too much, but if you look a little deeper, and assume the takeover is completed, it’s clear this season hasn’t delivered the success Rangers were aiming for.”
“That naturally leads to changes. A squad reshuffle is likely, with new faces coming in to implement fresh plans. So, expect a fair amount of movement at Rangers this summer as they gear up for next season.”

Pressure Mounting on Nils Koppen

Sporting director Nils Koppen may also find himself under scrutiny if the club doesn’t reverse its fortunes soon. While he can point to promising signings like Hamza Igamane, Mohamed Diomande, and Nicolas Raskin—who could yield future profit—those gains will mean little if silverware continues to elude the club.

Despite Celtic experiencing setbacks of their own this season, including two Old Firm defeats, they remain 15 points clear and on the brink of another Premiership title. For Rangers, that gap is simply unacceptable.

A summer of smarter, more targeted recruitment is now essential. With Cavenagh and the 49ers poised to take charge, the pressure is on to finally close the gap—and bring success back to Ibrox.
