USA international Gio Reyna is reportedly on Rangers’ radar as he looks set to depart Borussia Dortmund this summer.

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder made a name for himself after breaking into Dortmund’s first team in 2020 and was part of their DFB Pokal-winning side in 2021. However, over the past two seasons, Reyna has struggled with injuries and form, making just 37 appearances in all competitions.

He spent the latter half of last season on loan at Nottingham Forest, where he featured in only 10 games—just two of them as a starter. Despite limited club action, Reyna remains a key figure for the USA national team, earning 38 caps and playing a pivotal role in their 2023/24 CONCACAF Nations League triumph.

According to MLS Transfers, Reyna could be on the move again this summer and may be set to follow in his father’s footsteps by joining Rangers. Claudio Reyna played for the Glasgow club from 1999 to 2001, scoring 10 goals in 94 matches and helping them to a league and Scottish Cup double.

Although there is reported interest from other Bundesliga clubs, Reyna is said to be open to a fresh challenge abroad. Rangers, however, may face competition from MLS side LAFC, who currently boast high-profile stars such as Hugo Lloris and Olivier Giroud.

Reyna remains under contract at Borussia Dortmund until the summer of 2026, and has scored eight goals in 32 appearances for the United States.
