While Rangers’ search for a new manager is expected to dominate headlines this summer, the club is also reportedly eyeing a move for a Premier League youngster who has turned down a professional contract.

Rangers still hunting Clement successor

Following a disappointing season in the Scottish Premiership, Rangers and their incoming owners, 49ers Enterprises, must ensure they make the right moves this summer. A misstep in appointing a new manager could set them back another year. Fortunately, the position is attracting plenty of interest, giving the club several strong options.

While high-profile names like Rafa Benitez and Jose Mourinho have been linked with the role, Rangers legend Ally McCoist believes Sean Dyche could be the ideal candidate to bring stability and success to Ibrox.

Speaking to Football FanCast, McCoist said: “Sean Dyche would be a really interesting choice. His teams are always competitive, especially his current Everton side, which is always fighting hard. I’d love to see how he performs with a team expected to win every week. I think he’d thrive in that environment.

“It’s a very desirable role, and there’ll be no shortage of interest. Mourinho was mentioned recently, and I’m sure many fans would love to see him. But what matters most is that Rangers get this appointment right.”

Rangers eye Derry swoop

As the managerial search continues, Rangers are also turning their attention to a crucial summer transfer window. The 49ers must again make smart choices, and one emerging target is 17-year-old Jesse Derry—a Crystal Palace talent who has reportedly declined a professional deal.

Per Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider, Rangers are keen on snapping up Derry for a cut-price fee after his contract snub. Interest is growing from clubs across Europe, with both Rangers and Celtic reportedly in the mix. Although compensation would be required, the fee would be significantly lower than if he had signed a deal with Palace.

Derry has impressed at youth level, netting nine goals in just eight U18 Premier League matches this season. If he continues that form, he could be a huge asset at Ibrox.
