Hull City and Norwich City in Race with Fenerbahce for Luis Fernando Carrero

Hull City and Norwich City are reportedly eyeing a move for Deportivo Táchira’s promising attacker Luis Fernando Carrero, but face fresh competition from Turkish giants Fenerbahce. According to journalist Rudy Galetti on X, the Istanbul-based club, now led by Jose Mourinho, are weighing up a potential swoop for the 18-year-old talent.

Both Hull and Norwich have been linked with Carrero in recent weeks and are believed to see him as a key addition to strengthen their attacking options. The Venezuelan youth international is a left-footed winger capable of playing centrally as an attacking midfielder and is regarded as a rising star in South American football.

TEAMtalk previously reported that the Championship duo were among several clubs monitoring Carrero, with interest also coming from unnamed teams in the Premier League, La Liga, and Portugal’s top flight. Now, with Fenerbahce entering the mix, competition for his signature has intensified.

Carrero is under contract with Deportivo Táchira until the end of 2026, giving his club a strong negotiating position. The teenager, who has come through the club’s youth ranks, has featured prominently at junior levels and is now drawing international attention.

Hull City, currently fighting to avoid relegation from the Championship, sit just three points above the drop zone in 20th place. Norwich City, meanwhile, are in 13th and with little left to play for this season, may be planning ahead for the next campaign.

Interestingly, Hull City’s owner Acun Ilicali also sits on the board at Fenerbahce, a connection that has previously facilitated transfers between the two clubs. It remains to be seen whether that link will help or hinder Hull’s pursuit of Carrero, with Mourinho’s involvement now complicating matters.

With only four games left in the Championship season, both English sides will need to make swift decisions as they look to position themselves in the race for Carrero.
