Dundee United Eye Return for Norwich Defender Emmanuel Adegboyega

Dundee United boss Jim Goodwin has expressed interest in bringing Emmanuel Adegboyega back to Tannadice next season, if circumstances allow. The 21-year-old centre-back has impressed during his loan spell from Norwich City, with the Championship side now needing to make a decision on his future at Carrow Road.

Adegboyega joined the Scottish club on loan last summer and has since made 31 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals. His consistent performances and development have not gone unnoticed, prompting Goodwin to confirm his desire to keep him involved moving forward.

“Manny has a situation at Norwich where they’ve got an option on him for next year, so we’ll see whether they trigger that or not,” Goodwin told the Daily Record. “He’s one of a few players I trust and believe in, and I still see potential for growth in all of them.”

Norwich City signed Adegboyega in 2023 as a long-term prospect, but the Irish youth international has yet to feature for their first team. With the likes of Jose Cordoba, Shane Duffy, and Ruairi McConville already competing for central defensive roles, his path to the starting lineup remains challenging.

Previously on the books at Dundalk and Drogheda United in the League of Ireland, Adegboyega moved to England and had a productive loan spell with Walsall last season, making 14 appearances and scoring three times. His development has continued to progress during his stint in Scotland.

As Norwich weigh up their options, Dundee United will be hoping for a chance to bring Adegboyega back, whether on loan or a permanent deal, following what has been a successful season north of the border.
