San Francisco Enterprises maintain close ties with Red Bull amid fresh links to former boss

Bookmakers have dramatically shortened the odds on Marco Rose becoming the next Rangers manager.

A flurry of speculation has prompted betting companies to react, with the former Borussia Dortmund boss seeing his odds slashed from 20/1 to 13/8 within hours.

San Francisco Enterprises continue to enjoy a strong connection with Red Bull, and Rose has experience with both RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg — although he was dismissed by Leipzig earlier this year.

The 48-year-old, who was under contract with the Bundesliga club until 2026, is currently seeking his next opportunity. Over the years, he has spoken highly of football in Glasgow.

Rose has previously tasted both victory and defeat at Celtic Park with Salzburg and Leipzig, and was in charge of Dortmund during their memorable 2-2 draw at Ibrox, which helped Rangers secure a historic Europa League knockout win on their way to the final in Seville.

Weekend reports indicated that Gretar Steinsson, who is poised to play a key role in Rangers’ future leadership, has been reaching out to contacts across Europe in the hunt for the club’s next manager.

Steinsson and takeover figure Andrew Cavenagh are working towards securing control at Ibrox in the coming weeks, with the ambition of toppling Celtic’s domestic dominance.

Meanwhile, newly appointed sporting director Kevin Thelwell is preparing to get to work, and his strong relationship with Sean Dyche has come to light.

The pair previously navigated a turbulent period at Everton while managing significant budget cuts. Dyche has also been linked with the Rangers job, with Thelwell known to be an admirer, as he explained earlier this season during a period of intense fan criticism.

He said: “Sean and I work extremely closely. We communicate constantly — mornings, afternoons, and evenings — discussing how we can maximise the resources we have to improve our situation. I can assure everyone that no effort is being spared to turn things around.”
