Rangers are fully aware that major changes to their squad are needed if they are to challenge for domestic honours next season.
Supporters are already looking ahead with optimism to the upcoming US-led takeover and the summer transfer window, hoping that new investment will arrive swiftly.

There’s a real sense of anticipation at Ibrox, with fans eager to see fresh faces brought in to help Rangers push on, especially now that Celtic have equalled their 55 league titles following their win over Dundee United on Saturday (26 April).
Meanwhile, Barry Ferguson’s side dropped points in a 2-2 draw at St Mirren after twice being pegged back.

Michael Stewart predicts busy transfer window for Rangers
It’s clear that Rangers must rebuild this summer, and fans are counting on the incoming American consortium to back that process with significant funding.
Although Ferguson remains in contention for the permanent manager’s role, it’s expected that the new owners will have their own shortlist, especially with reports that 49ers chief Gretar Steinsson has already initiated talks with prospective candidates (The Athletic, 25 April).

Speaking on BBC Sportscene (26 April, 45:30), Michael Stewart criticized the current Rangers squad for lacking the “spine” and drive needed to consistently win titles.
Steven Thompson suggested that a major overhaul and clear-out are required this summer, a view Stewart agreed with.

“You listen to Callum McGregor speaking about Celtic’s relentless drive — Rangers don’t have players like that, they’re missing that core,” Stewart said.
“Big job coming up in the summer, and a big clear-out,” Thompson added.

Although Rangers made sweeping changes to the squad last summer, letting go of several veterans, their domestic form has still fallen short—despite achieving a Europa League quarter-final run.

Final stretch for Ferguson and Rangers
Rangers have four Premiership games left this season, the next three at Ibrox, beginning with another Old Firm clash on 4 May.
Regardless of Ferguson’s future, he will always have the notable achievement of a 3-2 win at Celtic Park in March thanks to Hamza Igamane’s late winner.

Following the derby, Aberdeen and Dundee United will visit Ibrox before Rangers wrap up the season away to Hibernian on 17 May.
While fans will demand a strong finish, the real focus remains on rebuilding in the summer.

There is still some uncertainty around recruitment operations at the club, with Nils Koppen’s future role unclear after the arrival of Kevin Thelwell, though steps are being taken behind the scenes to prepare for a busy few months ahead.
