Nottingham Forest Eyeing Another Manchester City Star Alongside James McAtee
Nottingham Forest have reportedly set their sights on signing a second Manchester City player this summer, alongside James McAtee, according to a fresh update.
Forest Targeting McAtee as Summer Plans Take Shape
While there’s still much at stake for Nottingham Forest this season, the club’s hierarchy are already laying the groundwork for the upcoming transfer window.
Forest have been strongly linked with adding to their attacking options, with Nuno Espirito Santo eager to ease the scoring pressure currently resting heavily on Chris Wood. Alongside their search for forwards, the club are also looking to bolster their midfield. Reports recently revealed that Forest are pushing ahead in efforts to sign Douglas Luiz from Juventus, intensifying discussions with his representatives ahead of a potential offer.
Meanwhile, Forest are also monitoring James McAtee’s situation at Manchester City. McAtee is approaching the final year of his contract, and although it’s not yet clear if City are willing to sell, Forest are poised to pounce if the opportunity arises.
Forest Join Race for £100m City Star Jack Grealish
But McAtee isn’t the only Manchester City player on Forest’s radar. According to Caught Offside, Nottingham Forest have surprisingly entered the race to land Jack Grealish this summer.
Grealish is viewed by the club as a potential marquee signing, especially if they secure a spot in next season’s Champions League. However, Forest are not the only ones monitoring the England international, with Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, and West Ham also expressing interest.
Currently earning £300,000 per week (£15.6m annually) at City, Grealish’s contract runs until 2027. Despite this, his limited involvement this season—only 19 Premier League appearances, with just seven starts—has cast doubt over his future at the Etihad.
After joining City in a £100 million move from Aston Villa, Grealish’s career has somewhat plateaued. A switch to a club like Forest could offer him a fresh start and greater opportunities. Nevertheless, he remains highly regarded by Pep Guardiola, who praised Grealish’s off-the-ball contributions, saying:
“I want him to make goals and assists, and he does too, but it’s not about that. It’s about his contribution without the ball and what he produces for others. We didn’t sign Jack for his stats at Aston Villa but for other reasons. He competes with top players and accepts it without complaint.”
