Tyler Warren Says He Was Also Targeted in NFL Draft Prank Call Incident

Tyler Warren has revealed that he too was the victim of a prank call during the 2025 NFL Draft, similar to the now-infamous hoax involving quarterback Shedeur Sanders. While Sanders’ situation dominated headlines, Warren shared that he experienced a similar incident before being drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the first round.

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, league investigators have now expanded their inquiry to include Warren’s case after identifying Jax Ulbrich — the 21-year-old son of Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich — as the person responsible for orchestrating the prank on Sanders.

Warren recounted that he received a call while the New York Jets were on the clock with the seventh overall pick. The pranksters, pretending to be Jets general manager Darren Mougey, allegedly told Warren he was about to be selected. His team noted that the prank call came from a number with the same area code linked to the one used in Sanders’ hoax.

Ultimately, the Jets passed on Warren and selected Missouri offensive tackle Armand Membou instead. Warren, the standout Penn State tight end, was later picked by the Colts with the 14th overall pick.

Background on the Sanders Prank

Sanders and Warren are currently the only players known to have been pranked during the 2025 NFL Draft. Though Warren’s call reportedly occurred earlier, Sanders’ case drew greater media attention after videos of the incident went viral.

Sanders, who had purchased a dedicated phone solely for draft communications and shared the number only with league officials and coaches, was pranked when Jax Ulbrich discovered the number at his father’s home. Ulbrich then shared it with friends, a group of Ole Miss students, who carried out the prank call during Day Two of the draft.

After videos surfaced, fans quickly linked Ulbrich to the incident. On Sunday morning, Ulbrich issued a public apology, and shortly thereafter, the Falcons released an official statement acknowledging their role in the mishap.
