‘No Way’ – Michael Stewart Reacts to Brendan Rodgers Celtic Exit Rumours
Former Scotland international Michael Stewart has strongly dismissed speculation surrounding Brendan Rodgers’ future at Celtic, calling recent rumours “nonsense” and firmly backing the manager to stay at Parkhead.
Speaking amid growing whispers that Rodgers could be on the move after just one season back in charge, Stewart didn’t mince words. “No way is Brendan Rodgers leaving Celtic now,” he told BBC Sportsound. “It’s ridiculous to suggest he’d walk away when he’s building something again. He’s too invested.”
Rodgers returned to Celtic last summer following Ange Postecoglou’s departure to Tottenham. Though his second spell hasn’t been as dominant as his first, the Hoops remain locked in a tight Premiership title race with Rangers and are favourites to lift the Scottish Cup.
Stewart highlighted Rodgers’ long-term vision and his connection with the club as key reasons he won’t be tempted by outside interest. “This isn’t just a job for him — he came back because he believes in what Celtic can achieve,” Stewart added.
The speculation, fueled by reported Premier League interest, appears to be gaining little traction in Glasgow. Celtic fans, despite a few bumps this season, have largely stayed behind Rodgers as he steers the club through a transitional phase.
With just weeks left in the campaign and silverware still up for grabs, Stewart’s message is clear: ignore the noise. Brendan Rodgers isn’t going anywhere — at least not yet.
