A major transformation appears to be on the way for Rangers FC, as a U.S.-based consortium inches closer to completing a high-profile takeover of the Scottish club.

Prospective owner Andrew Cavenagh and his American investment group were seen at Ibrox this week, getting a full-access tour of the stadium as part of the final stages of their proposed multi-million pound acquisition.

Among those present was Leeds United chairman Paraag Marathe, a key figure in 49ers Enterprises—the investment arm of the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers—as well as 49ers CEO Jed York and Leeds technical director Gretar Steinsson, all of whom were spotted taking in the visit on Tuesday.

Online speculation swirled following the cancellation of Ibrox stadium tours that same day, with some suggesting interim manager Barry Ferguson—preparing the squad for the upcoming clash with Celtic—may have been involved. However, Record Sport understands Ferguson did not participate in the meetings.

Last week, the club released a statement confirming that productive talks were ongoing with Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises Global Football Group, aimed at securing control of the club and injecting fresh capital. The statement emphasized a mutual understanding of the need for a strong long-term vision for Rangers’ future growth and success.
