Norwich City midfielder Lungi Sørensen has revealed to Danish media that it was his own decision to part ways with the Championship side at the end of the season.

The 27-year-old’s contract with the Canaries expires this summer, and a return to Denmark’s Superliga appears to be a possibility.

Speaking to Tipsbladet, Sørensen discussed his plans for the future and why he’s choosing to leave Norwich. He said the motivation came from a desire for change and a fresh challenge after five years in England.

“I just felt the urge to try something new and experience a different environment. I’ve been here for five years, and now I want to see new places and meet new people,” he explained.

Sørensen also reacted to the recent dismissals of Johannes Hoff Thorup and Glen Riddersholm, expressing his surprise at the decision.

“I was shocked—it really caught me off guard. I thought they’d be given more time to shape the squad, but that’s football. When results don’t come, changes happen quickly,” he said.

The former Denmark U21 international joined Norwich from Esbjerg fB and went on to make over 100 appearances for the club, netting four goals. He also featured ten times during the club’s 2021/22 Premier League campaign.
