When the All Blacks faced France in Paris last November, they paid tribute to New Zealand’s military veterans by wearing a special jersey featuring an RSA Poppy embroidered on the sleeve.

One of these commemorative jerseys has now been donated to the Royal New Zealand RSA to assist in fundraising efforts aimed at supporting veterans across the country.

RSA National President Sir Wayne Shelford expressed gratitude for the gesture, calling it a touching act of solidarity from the national team.

“Wearing the Black Jersey is always an emotional experience for any player,” Shelford said. “But having the poppy—a symbol of remembrance—stitched onto the sleeve adds even greater meaning. It’s a tribute to those we’ve lost, and now this jersey will help us care for those who are still with us.”

The match, dubbed the “Remembrance Test,” took place on November 17 (NZ time) to coincide with Remembrance Day. The All Blacks wore a white version of their iconic jersey to contrast with France’s navy blue kit.

The gifted jersey, signed by the 2024 All Blacks squad and head coach Scott Robertson, is a one-of-a-kind piece, as no replica versions were ever made available to the public.

It is currently being auctioned on Trade Me, with proceeds going toward RSA initiatives that enhance the wellbeing of New Zealand’s veteran community. The RSA expressed deep appreciation to the All Blacks for their generous contribution.
