Rangers are already planning for the upcoming season, keeping a firm eye on the Scottish Premiership as they look to bolster their squad.
On transfer deadline day, the club secured a pre-contract agreement with Dundee midfielder Lyall Cameron. His teammate, Josh Mulligan, is also on Rangers’ radar—though Dundee boss Tony Docherty remains hopeful of retaining Mulligan’s services.
Elsewhere, former Ibrox star Andy Halliday has suggested James Penrice could be another domestic target, with Rangers seemingly intent on increasing their contingent of Scottish talent within a squad full of international experience.
However, not every rising star in the Premiership linked with Rangers will be heading to Ibrox.
Rangers Set to Miss Out on Promising Premiership Prospect
Kilmarnock forward Bobby Wales has emerged as one of the standout young players in the Premiership this season. The 19-year-old has shone at Rugby Park, and while manager Derek McInnes hoped to keep him at the club, it appears Wales is on his way out.
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reports that Wales has agreed to a four-year contract with Swansea City, with Kilmarnock expected to receive around £300,000 in training compensation.
This move comes despite speculation that Rangers were eyeing a swoop for the Scotland youth international. Back in February, Simon Ferry of Open Goal mentioned both Rangers and Celtic as potential suitors.
“Bobby Wales is brilliant,” Ferry said of the teenage striker. “You look at Celtic and Rangers—he’s definitely someone they should be watching. Six foot two, good touch, great finisher…”
