Rangers face a pivotal summer if they hope to reestablish themselves as serious contenders in domestic competitions.

The club currently sits in a disappointing position, with nothing left to fight for this season. Early exits from both Scottish Cups and a widening gap behind Celtic — evident well before Barry Ferguson’s arrival — have exposed major shortcomings.

To avoid a repeat next season, Rangers must make the right strategic moves off the pitch. The coming months at Ibrox will be critical.

Rangers have lacked a clear identity for years

Although their Europa League performances caught attention, they left more questions than answers. Inconsistency plagued the season, particularly under Philippe Clement, and a clear playing style was noticeably absent. As Joshua Barrie of Rangers Review noted, the club is now working to establish a defined DNA to guide recruitment and unify operations throughout all departments — something not seen since Steven Gerrard’s tenure.

Recruitment remains a key issue, and must be overhauled if the Light Blues are to build a squad capable of challenging Celtic for silverware.

The 49ers must deliver on their promise to the Rangers support

Despite enduring one of the club’s most challenging periods in recent memory, fans have remained loyal. However, after another disappointing campaign, patience is wearing thin. The 49ers must now ensure effective leadership and decision-making, as the margin for error is razor-thin — and expectations could not be higher.
