Former Norwich Star Tim Krul Released by Relegated Luton Town Ahead of League One Campaign

Ex-Norwich City Player of the Season Tim Krul has been released by Luton Town as the club braces for life in League One following relegation.

Krul joined the Hatters from Norwich in the summer of 2023 after losing his starting spot to Angus Gunn. At the time, Luton were preparing for their historic debut Premier League season, having achieved promotion via a dramatic penalty shoot-out in the Championship play-off final.

However, consecutive relegations have seen the club tumble back to the third tier for the first time since 2019. Krul, whose contract ends this summer, will not be part of their squad going forward and is now a free agent.

The 37-year-old struggled for minutes during his stint at Kenilworth Road, failing to make a single league appearance. He remained second-choice behind former Blackburn goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski, who cemented the No. 1 role.

Krul enjoyed a much more successful period at Norwich City, where he made 169 appearances and recorded 47 clean sheets over five seasons. He was instrumental in the Canaries’ two Championship title wins and was voted the club’s Player of the Season in their 2019–20 Premier League campaign, earning the prestigious Barry Butler Memorial Trophy.
