Ex-Celtic Winger Haksabanovic Sparks Attention in Sweden with Surprising Shirt Choice

Former Celtic winger Sead Haksabanovic caught attention in Sweden this week after showing up to Malmö FF training in one of his old Celtic match-worn shirts—despite the bitter way his stint in Glasgow came to an end.

As part of a light-hearted team initiative, Malmö players were encouraged to wear random football kits to training. Haksabanovic turned heads by opting for his own Celtic jersey, a clear nod to his former club.

The Montenegrin international joined Celtic from Rubin Kazan in the summer of 2022 on a five-year deal and showed promise under then-manager Ange Postecoglou. However, his time at Parkhead took a downturn during the 2023/24 season following a reported fallout with Brendan Rodgers.

Disappointed by limited playing opportunities, Haksabanovic posted a cryptic message on social media, hinting at his dissatisfaction: “If they don’t see your value, maybe you’re at the wrong place.” The post signaled his impending departure, and he was loaned to Stoke City before completing a permanent move to Malmö FF last summer.

Although his exit from Celtic was clouded in tension, the 26-year-old’s decision to wear the green and white shirt suggests that he still retains a degree of affection for the club. His kit choice didn’t go unnoticed, prompting mixed reactions—especially from Celtic supporters who remembered his frustrations during his time in Scotland.

Now back in Sweden, Haksabanovic is focused on reviving his form and finding consistency—two things that eluded him during his rocky spell at Celtic.
