Celtic must wait until next Saturday — the final day of the Croatian league season — to learn whether they’ll be seeded in the Champions League Play-Off round.
Currently, the Hoops are unseeded in the draw, but that status could change depending on the outcome of the Croatian title race. If Dinamo Zagreb fail to win the league and don’t qualify for the Champions League, Celtic would move into the seeded group.
Dinamo’s 1-1 draw in Saturday’s Zagreb derby against Lokomotiv has kept the title race alive, offering Rijeka a chance to clinch the championship. However, Rijeka lost 2-1 away to Hajduk Split, meaning both sides remain level on points heading into the final weekend.
On the last day, Rijeka will host Slaven Koprivnica while Dinamo Zagreb welcome Varazdin. If the teams finish tied on points, Rijeka will be crowned champions due to their superior head-to-head record (4-1) over Dinamo.
If Celtic do become seeded, they’ll avoid facing strong opponents like Bodo Glimt, Copenhagen, Ferencvaros, or Red Star Belgrade. Instead, they’ll be matched against an unseeded team, with Slovan Bratislava being the highest-ranked among that group.
The draw for both the Third Qualifying Round and Play-Offs will take place on August 5, with Play-Off matches scheduled for August 19/20 and 26/27.
