Leicester City Legend Fumes as Club Hit with Another Points Deduction

Leicester City are facing yet another setback in their turbulent return to the Premier League, as the club has been slapped with a second points deduction this season—leaving club legend Neil Lennon “furious” and branding the punishment as “a disgrace to the integrity of the game.”

The Foxes, who earned promotion back to the top flight after a single season in the Championship, have now been docked an additional four points following a fresh breach of the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), the league confirmed on Tuesday morning.

Combined with the earlier six-point deduction imposed in March, Leicester now find themselves dangerously close to the relegation zone, having undone much of their early-season momentum.

The Premier League released a statement citing “continued financial mismanagement and failure to comply with previously agreed spending constraints” as the primary reason for the new sanction. Sources close to the matter allege that Leicester had been warned about exceeding wage limits and amortisation irregularities related to past transfers.

Former club captain and title-winning hero Neil Lennon did not hold back in his criticism.

“This is an absolute disgrace,” Lennon told Leicester Today. “The fans, the players, and the coaching staff are being punished for boardroom mistakes. It’s shameful that the people who actually care about this club have to suffer because of poor financial governance at the top.”

“We’ve seen clubs get slapped on the wrist for worse,” he added. “This feels like a witch hunt against Leicester.”

The deduction throws Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s side into turmoil at a crucial stage of the campaign, with just three matches remaining and survival in the balance. What was once a promising mid-table return now looks like a desperate scramble to avoid the drop.

Supporters gathered outside the King Power Stadium hours after the announcement, voicing their frustration at both the Premier League and Leicester’s ownership group, King Power International.

“How can they do this to us again?” said lifelong fan Darren Hughes, 42. “We fought hard to come back up, and now we’re being dragged down by issues off the pitch. Someone needs to take responsibility.”

This second deduction also raises serious questions about the club’s long-term strategy, especially after a relatively conservative January transfer window that saw no major signings and several loan departures.

Maresca, speaking at a tense press conference, admitted morale in the dressing room has taken a hit but vowed to keep fighting.

“We can’t control what happens off the field,” he said. “What we can control is our performance, and I know this group of players won’t give up.”

Leicester now face a must-win match this weekend against Brentford, followed by daunting fixtures against Manchester United and Aston Villa. With only two points now separating them from the drop zone, every game is a cup final.

As the Foxes brace for a dramatic finish to their campaign, all eyes will be on how they respond to this latest blow—and whether those in charge at the top finally face the accountability many believe is long overdue.
