Coventry City and Norwich City Eye Harry Toffolo Ahead of Summer Transfer Window

Nottingham Forest left-back Harry Toffolo has emerged as a potential summer signing for both Coventry City and Norwich City, sources have told Football League World.

Both clubs are preparing for life in the Championship in the 2025–26 season. Coventry are looking to regroup after a heartbreaking play-off semi-final defeat to Sunderland, while Norwich continue their managerial search following the dismissal of Johannes Hoff Thorup in April. Despite the lack of a head coach, the Canaries are pushing ahead with transfer plans — and Toffolo is firmly on their radar.

Toffolo, 29, is expected to become a free agent when his Forest contract expires at the end of the current season. Having spent three years at the City Ground, he is unlikely to feature in the club’s retained list as they prepare for European competition next term.

His availability has attracted interest from both Coventry and Norwich, who view him as an experienced and dependable addition to their squads. Coventry already have Jake Bidwell and Jay Dasilva under contract until 2027, but are still weighing up options to strengthen the left side of defence. Norwich, meanwhile, are in need of a replacement after loanee Callum Doyle returned to Manchester City at the end of the season.

Interestingly, Toffolo began his career at Norwich, joining their academy at under-14 level and going on to make three first-team appearances before leaving for Lincoln City in 2018.

The former Huddersfield Town and Rotherham United defender boasts significant Championship experience, having made over 100 appearances in the division. He was part of the Huddersfield team that reached the play-off final in 2022 under Carlos Corberán — ultimately losing to Forest, whom he joined later that summer alongside Lewis O’Brien.

Toffolo’s time at Forest has been mixed. After playing 19 Premier League games in his debut season and 23 in 2023–24, opportunities have been limited in 2024–25 under Nuno Espírito Santo. He has made just four top-flight appearances this season, with his first start only coming in late April in a 2-1 win at Tottenham.

As Forest look to strengthen ahead of their European campaign, Toffolo appears surplus to requirements — opening the door for a potential Championship return with either Coventry or Norwich.
