Celtic are gearing up for a major summer in the transfer market, with reports indicating the club is prepared to break its transfer record to bring in marquee signings. Journalist Scott Burns has reported that the Celtic hierarchy is determined to support manager Brendan Rodgers and keep him at the helm beyond the end of his current contract, which runs through next season.

Rodgers led Celtic to the Champions League knockout play-offs this past season, and the board is eager to demonstrate its ambition on the European stage by securing top-level reinforcements.

Last summer, Celtic set a club-record fee by spending £11 million on Arne Engels. According to Burns, the club has no reservations about surpassing that figure again if the right opportunity presents itself.

Celtic are also expected to receive a financial boost through player sales and sell-on clauses, which will further enhance their ability to invest in new talent. With Champions League progress a key target, securing high-quality signings will be central to the club’s summer strategy.

Speaking on Hotline Live, Burns said:

“There’s money to spend, and they proved that last year with the Engels deal. From what I understand, they’re prepared to go even higher this summer if the right player is available.

“It’s clear Celtic want to show ambition. They want to make real strides in the Champions League, and with this potentially being Rodgers’ final year unless he extends, the club is doing everything possible to persuade him to stay.

“I think we’re in for a big summer. Celtic are due to bring in a good sum from sell-on fees, and they’ll be reinvesting that to push for Champions League success.

“I do believe we’ll see some big-name signings coming through the door.”

Rodgers has made progress with Celtic in Europe and has a solid foundation to build on, thanks to key contributors like Daizen Maeda, Alistair Johnston, and Cameron Carter-Vickers. However, the Champions League remains the ultimate test, and Celtic are intent on pushing further.

The club’s intent is clear: they want Rodgers to continue, and they want to give him the tools to compete at the highest level. A strong summer in the transfer market would reinforce that ambition.

This could be a defining transfer window for Celtic, potentially shaping the direction of the club for years to come. With major investments anticipated, fans will be watching closely to see how the squad evolves.
