Daizen Maeda Reaffirms Commitment to Celtic Amid Transfer Speculation

Daizen Maeda has made it clear he remains fully dedicated to Celtic, dismissing recent rumours linking him with a potential move away from the club this summer.

The Japanese international has been a crucial figure for the Hoops, particularly over the past season, where his tireless work rate and direct attacking style played a vital role in key matches.

Speculation about his future has intensified, with reports suggesting Turkish giants Fenerbahce are showing interest. However, Maeda has downplayed any talk of a departure, reaffirming how much he enjoys life at Celtic.

Speaking to Celtic FC, Maeda said:
“Since I’ve joined Celtic, I’ve been playing football with joy.
There is no difference between now and the past. I still enjoy playing here.”

His comments will be welcome news for manager Brendan Rodgers as preparations for the upcoming campaign begin. Rodgers highly values Maeda’s relentless energy, intelligent movement, and clinical finishing—traits that have made him a key player under both himself and former boss Ange Postecoglou.

Maeda’s versatility is another asset that sets him apart. Though primarily used as a forward—either centrally or on the left—he’s equally effective when pressing high and disrupting opposition defences. That adaptability has naturally attracted attention from clubs outside Scotland.

Since arriving from Yokohama F. Marinos in 2022, the 27-year-old has been a consistent performer in both domestic and European competitions.

While transfer rumours continue to circulate, Maeda’s firm stance on staying put is a reminder that not every story ends with a player moving on. For now, Celtic supporters can take comfort in knowing one of their most industrious players remains focused on the club’s future.
