Rangers Considering Jordan Henderson as Midfield Reinforcement
Rangers are exploring midfield additions this summer and have been linked with former Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson.
In anticipation of a potential move, injury specialist Dr Rajpal Brar has evaluated the 34-year-oldās fitness. Currently, Henderson is playing for Dutch side Ajax.
No Major Concerns Over Hendersonās Medical
According to Dr Brar, Henderson has experienced a number of minor injuries, but none that should pose a problem during a medical. The 82-cap England international featured in 28 league matches last season, missing just one due to injury.
Dutch journalist Mike Verweij reported on 25 May that both Rangers and Sunderland are eyeing a move for Henderson during the current transfer window.
Speaking to Ibrox News, Dr Brarāwho specialises in physical therapy and sports scienceāsaid:
āHeās dealt with several minor injuries, but nothing out of the ordinary. The club may review any patterns of recurrence, and consider potential yellow flags given his age, total minutes, and level of competition.
Still, I donāt see anything that would prevent him from passing a medical.
Heās in his mid-30s now, so Rangers will understand he canāt play with the same intensity as in his peak years.ā
Hendersonās Short-Term Impact Could Benefit Rangers
If Rangers pursue Henderson for a short-term spell, such as the next two seasons, he could bring valuable leadership and experience. Now 35, Henderson has won both the Premier League and Champions League with Liverpool, and his presence could lift Rangersā domestic and European ambitions.
His leadership credentialsāhaving captained Liverpool during a trophy-laden eraācould provide a steadying influence in a squad facing pressure from fierce rivals like Celtic.
Despite a drop in pace, Henderson still offers work ethic, game awareness, and the ability to control the midfield. While not a long-term solution, his professionalism and winning mindset could mentor younger players and bring stability to the club in a transitional period following the ownership change.
