Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe are believed to have concluded their final discussions as they prepare to make their first managerial appointment since taking ownership of Rangers.

The American consortium officially completed their takeover of the Ibrox club on Friday.

With Philippe Clement dismissed in February and Barry Ferguson unable to turn things around during his interim spell, securing a permanent manager is the top priority for Cavenagh and Marathe.

Their chosen candidate is expected to benefit from significant financial support, with the new owners ready to inject £20million into the club.

Davide Ancelotti poised to take Rangers job

Davide Ancelotti has reportedly informed Rangers that he’s ready to step into the manager’s role after reflecting on his future during a recent holiday.

The 35-year-old, who has spent much of his coaching career assisting his father Carlo Ancelotti, is now eager to establish himself as a head coach, according to a Daily Record report on Saturday (31 May).

Former Rangers defender Russell Martin remains in contention, and the decision is said to be between him and Ancelotti following Steven Gerrard’s withdrawal from consideration.

New sporting director Kevin Thelwell is working alongside the ownership group to make the final decision, which is expected in the coming days.

Ancelotti retired from playing at 22 and earned a degree in sports science. He began his coaching journey with fitness roles at PSG and Real Madrid before gaining his UEFA A License and joining Bayern Munich as an assistant in 2016. He has since contributed to league triumphs at Bayern and Real Madrid, as well as two Champions League titles under his father’s leadership at the Bernabeu.
