Norwich City Submit Bid for Leicester Goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk
Norwich City have tabled an offer to Leicester City for Polish goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk, according to The Pink Un. Despite already securing Dan Grimshaw from Plymouth Argyle as a possible successor to outgoing keeper Angus Gunn—reportedly for around £600,000—the Canaries remain in the market for further reinforcement between the posts.
Gunn, a Scotland international and long-time Norwich number one, will officially leave the club when his contract expires this summer, creating a vacancy in the goalkeeping department.
Stolarczyk has emerged as a key target for Norwich, but the deal is expected to be challenging. Sky Sports’ Rob Dorsett has reported that Leicester have already turned down a bid for the 24-year-old, who recently extended his stay at the King Power Stadium. The Foxes see him as a potential first-choice if Mads Hermansen is lured away during the transfer window. Stolarczyk featured in 10 Premier League games last season and is viewed as an important asset by the club.
Norwich, however, are keeping their options open. Another goalkeeper reportedly under consideration is Vladan Kovacevic of Sporting Lisbon. The 27-year-old, who stands at six-foot-three, spent last season on loan at Legia Warsaw and made six league appearances for the Polish outfit.
Defensive Reinforcements a Priority for Manning
Head coach Liam Manning is aiming to strengthen defensively rather than overhaul the entire squad. One name being linked is Swansea City centre-back Harry Darling, a player Manning has previously worked with at MK Dons. “He’s proven himself at Championship level,” Manning told The Pink Un. “He’d be a good fit, but he’ll have other offers.” Birmingham City, Stoke City, and Wrexham are also monitoring the 25-year-old.
Improving the defence is a clear focus after a leaky 2024/25 season, in which Norwich conceded 68 goals—more than any side outside of the relegated trio, Portsmouth (71), and Sheffield Wednesday (69). Despite boasting two of the division’s top scorers in Borja Sainz and Josh Sargent—both of whom could leave this summer—the Canaries finished in the Championship’s bottom half.
With these issues in mind, it’s evident that shoring up the back line is a top priority at Carrow Road this transfer window.
