Rangers Poised to Land Dundee Midfielder Josh Mulligan

Rangers are on the verge of completing a deal to sign Dundee midfielder Josh Mulligan. The 22-year-old registered five assists in 34 Scottish Premiership appearances last season and is expected to become the first signing under new manager Russell Martin.

Scouts from the Glasgow club have been monitoring Mulligan closely, and the transfer is set to be the first under the stewardship of 49ers Enterprises and Andrew Cavenagh. According to Ibrox Noise (11 June), the Light Blues are nearing a £1 million agreement for the Dens Park talent, with a medical already underway.

Despite Salford City reportedly offering higher wages, Rangers have managed to edge them out in the race to sign the promising midfielder.

Securing Mulligan represents a significant win for Rangers, especially considering their previous failures to land top Scottish prospects such as Lewis Ferguson, Aaron Hickey, Lawrence Shankland, and Josh Doig. This deal signals a shift back toward investing in homegrown talent, a trend further highlighted by the expected arrival of Lyall Cameron on a free transfer once his Dundee contract concludes.

Rangers have also shown interest in rising Scotland international Lennon Miller, though they face stiff competition for his signature. In addition, they recently brought in Aberdeen’s Connor Barron as a free agent, who has since earned a senior Scotland cap.

While international signings like Hamza Igamane, Nico Raskin, and Jefte have delivered success, the lack of domestic players had become a concern. Now, it appears that Rangers are actively rebuilding a Scottish core within their squad, reflecting a return to their traditional roots.
